I grew up in Dorchester but I moved out in about 1996 when I got my own apartment at the age of 19. Me & my husband just moved back to Dorchester about 4 months ago & it scares me sometime. I worry about our boys all the time we have 3 boys & 2 are teenagers. I would love to keep them sheltered in the house but you can't do that you have to give them some space. Every night I lay in my bed & hear sirens I don't miss hearing that sound & I just think "will it ever stop". My 17 year old is scared to even walk through the streets of Dorchester, I will get out my bed & go pick him up when he doesn't feel safe to walk home. All the violence these days are coming from our young teens because they have no supervision or they come from a disfuctional home. What can us as parents & community neighbors do to help our children feel safe in our neighbor streets???
